Death by Corde Lisse and Broken Heart

Photo: Ross Waldron

Exciting news: I'll be christening the new aerial point in the Sugar Club with a first ever aerial performance there this Friday at the Burlesque and Cabaret Social Club. The Sugar Club has a special place in my heart and it will be very very cool to do an aerial performance there for the first time, before our big show and of course, before I leave Dublin for Circus school in Belfast. My performance on Friday will mark the end of a personal era for me and the beginning of something mysterious and exploratory. It's the beginning of an adventure really. I'm very much looking forward to it and yet, I'm filled with a sad anticipation which often accompanies the passing of time and visits one on the cusp of change...

Ross Waldron: Hoop-skirt space ship

Photo and post production: Ross Waldron

ABSOLUTE ADORATION IN ZERO GRAVITY.

Captured backstage (in zero gravity) at
Bella A Go Go's Steampunk show,
Ross and I both agreed, this shot should be in outer-space.
And so, it shall be.

Cannibalistic cupid: Love is...

Some great images from Lolita Lush's Gorlesque show which happened on the 28th October just in time for Halloween! They don't depict the climax of the narrative, but I'll tell you now it got appropriately gory when things turned nasty for ol red winged Death... As far as the audience was concerned I was eating a real heart, from a cow or something. Awesomely effective heart cake courtesy of Siobhán and Epiphany DeMeanour who appears here as Death itself. Believe me, being embraced in her inspired Isis wing-costume was highly evocative. There were a few technical hitches, and naughty Kate Turner snapped me doing my quick change behind Epiphany's cloak... erp! Cheeky photographers!

I'm noticing I have very elongated hands and feet. What Mother has called 'Italian toes'. I think I look like an amphibian in these images, an oceanic human-hybrid. The Italian-toed, feather-winged Cupid fish. Hah.

Ah the good old days...

Are gone, are gone forever...

Where it all started, as keen assistant to Miss Epiphany DeMeanour at the Tassel Club.

I have written about my experiences and my current contemplations on the burlesque scene and my involvement in it over the last few years and interviewed a number of burlesquers about the sometimes contentious STRIP TEASE, for RAG 5 which is due out in November... there is some talk of making the launch a cabaret!
Anarchist cabaret anyone? YES PLEASE!

Rag is an anarchafeminist publishing collective which I am a member of. Go RAG! More details to come. See: http://ragdublin.blogspot.com/
